Sweater Weather with Tobi

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ello there cable knitted jumper of dreams! And also, hey everybody else. We’re creeping up to Halloween (although confession, I have been watching Christmas films) and sweater weather has firmly planted itself here. Every year, my favourite chunky knits come out from storage and a few new ones inevitably find their way into my wardrobe too. I’ve partnered up with LA based online retailer Tobi on this post, to ‘help’ add some cosy comfort to my wardrobe for this new season![vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”18546″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”18548″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Jeans and a knit! Or what I call my Autumn uniform.

This is the Skylar knit in grey and it’s reduced to £17

(I ordered it in my usual size; so size up for that oversized fit)

For the times when I have to, you know, venture out into public and surgically remove myself from my jeans, I paired the next jumper with my current favourite skirt…

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”18554″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”18553″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

A pink sweater isn’t my usual go to during the wintery months, but I’m making an effort to stop resorting to black, black, black all the time.

This is the Clarissa knit , hopefully a step forward in injecting some colour into my life when the weather outside is frightful.

It’s an oversized fit and this puppy is reduced to £20!

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”18545″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516885932338{margin-top: 100px !important;border-top-width: 2px !important;border-right-width: 2px !important;border-bottom-width: 2px !important;border-left-width: 2px !important;padding-top: 15px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;border-left-color: #f1f1f1 !important;border-left-style: solid !important;border-right-color: #f1f1f1 !important;border-right-style: solid !important;border-top-color: #f1f1f1 !important;border-top-style: solid !important;border-bottom-color: #f1f1f1 !important;border-bottom-style: solid !important;border-radius: 2px !important;}”]

And a wardrobe staple that everyone should have?

The trench coat!

Aptly called the Let It Rain trench, this was made for the rainy, grey weather that blows through Britain.

It’s available in Black and Camel and yes…reduced to £42.

My Latest Man Repellent Outfits

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]omething funny is happening to my wardrobe. The hues of blue and black denim have now been joined by a white pair of jeans. Skinny ones. When I wiggle into them I break in to the Tight Pants song (have you seen it? it’s the best) They are my most man repellent jeans yet, but I love them. And joining this white denim man repellent revolution…the addition of the prettiest white prom skirt, a culotte jumpsuit, and a silvery midi skirt. Last night, I was on the prowl online looking for the perfect nude/blush/maybe even white oversized hoodie to travel in next week and lost myself for two hours. What is happening? Have I been infected with the Puff Daddy White Party virus? All the patterns, florals, and black, black, black of my wardrobe is being taking over by a rainbow of neutral hues (except for the leopard print sandals) and now I feel like a cool, sophisticated city type that has a subscription to Cereal magazine and makes almond milk in their spare time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”17636″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516893400536{padding-top: 120px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 130px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

As a natural klutz of the very finest kind, I have always held off wearing anything that will show off everything I’ve drunk, eaten or smeared across my clothes throughout the day. I notoriously get food crumbs in my hair, so the only solution to wearing white jeans is to not eat or drink in them.

At all.

…hah, unlikely! * I get my tights pants on*

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516893486650{border-top-width: 0px !important;border-right-width: 0px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;border-left-width: 0px !important;padding-top: 150px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 185px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;border-left-color: #f3f3f3 !important;border-right-color: #f3f3f3 !important;border-top-color: #f3f3f3 !important;border-bottom-color: #f3f3f3 !important;}”]

I’m a huge fan of midi skirts- they’re my go-to when I want to feel smart and put together but still comfortable. This skirt comes in different colours- in fact, I wore the rosewood coloured one at our weekend in Hampshire in last year.

For casual, I’d wear it with my current favourite sandals or dress it up with blush pink heels.

Circle belt skirt

I first saw this in the Tall section and cursed the shop for not making a regular size. A week later, my wish came true and I immediately grabbed at this skirt. It’s made of that strange scuba material that doesn’t lose its shape. I feel so Audrey Hepburn in this.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”17638″ img_size=”large” css=”.vc_custom_1516893507265{margin-top: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”17639″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516893573988{padding-top: 200px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 230px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

The waistband makes me feel cinched in, without cutting off circulation and the circle belt detail is more for show than function. I want to wear this, by the sea, with a straw bag and sunglasses.

Also, I’m so on the navy t shirt train right now. It makes a nice change from black and white tee basics!

And now, my last man repellant outfit, which may be the most repellent of all.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”17644″ img_size=”600×800″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”17643″ img_size=”600×800″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Okay, one- culottes.

Two- jumpsuit

And also, it’s all white.

I know, I know, who am I anymore?

Culotte jumpsuit

But, I love this outfit! It’s so comfortable and I feel so chic in it. The origami folds at the front stop this from feeling too sack-like and even though it’s got quite the plungey neckline, I don’t feel like I’m flashing everyone or in danger of falling out. If this had pockets, it would be a 10/10 all round.

“What’s in my Bag?”

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ere’s a guilty pleasure confession. 1) I have a soft spot for a designer bag (I know, she who lives in her scabby Vans!) and 2) I especially seem to like ones named Alexander (Wang or McQueen) Recently, I found my holy grail bag on eBay and after watching one too many Youtube videos, I thought I’d have a go at my own “What’s In My Bag” post. These are my everyday essentials that I can surprisingly fit comfortably into this deceptively big handbag.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516900035082{padding-top: 120px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 120px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]First, every Brit’s must have accessory. The umbrella. I never leave the house without it.

My cordless headphones were a birthday present from Robin. Goodbye forever to wires plus they’re noise cancelling.

Travel size Jo Malone scent in Blackberry and Bay (my fav) This was a Christmas present from my sister to replace the last one that was a Christmas present, hah! One bottle lasts forever, even for someone as spritz happy as me.

Hoola is my favourite bronzer; it’s the only bronzer that I’m not scared will make me Oompa Loompa-like plus it makes me feel more human in deep, dark Winter.

There’s an emergency mini brush because long hair do care.

Then there’s my daily vitamins; Floradix for iron and goodness and B12 supplements from Holland and Barrett.

My makeup bag to top up my face as and when I’m on the go.

A Cursed Child badge that I keep as a souvenir from the play.

Another eBay find; a Pamela Love spike necklace in a pearly granite (they’re usually £120+ but I won this at £29!)

A spare USB stick, from a blogging event last year.

Hand cream! This one happens to be a Bath and Body Works tube- does the trick, smells great.

My most often used lipsticks! MAC’s Capricious for everyday and Kat Von D’s Underage Red for extra oomph now and then.

Ancient reading glasses for when I remember (I never do) and usually any pair of sunglasses lying around at home.

My ‘Not Gucci’ Coat

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s no secret that I have a hard time letting go of Summer but there’s at least one thing I can get on board with when the weather turns cold- a new coat! And, knitwear. I do like a good bit of knitwear. The more chunky and oversized, the better- in fact, I got the chance to wear both a chunky knit and my new coat over the weekend. Early on Saturday, I met up with my sister for a bit before she left to shoot a wedding. We had coffee in Pimlico, before we parted ways and I went off for an SW1 wander.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14038″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”14053″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”14037″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14055″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14020″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]So, about that cold weather thing.

I first spotted this coat from Mango, but decided to hold off buying it until pay day…only for pay day to come round and the coat had only gone and sold out! I was gutted. To me, it was perfect. It was a cross between this season’s Gucci military coat and the David coat from Isabel Marant in 2012.

The red piping, the gold buttons, the rich navy colour- I became a little obsessed with it.

And then…

ASOS only went and stocked it didn’t they!

Clicked, ordered, and arrived the next day. Woo! High Five for Premier delivery!

Sometimes it’s a nice cafe, or a shop selling cameras from floor to ceiling.

I stopped into Lush on my way home to pick up a few gifts before holing myself up with Downton Abbey (yep, it’s taken me this long to get into it!)

Another weekend of successful wandering! What did you guys get up to?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The White Company Garden Party

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ith my own garden currently a building site, I have never looked forward to a garden party as much as the one that The White Company threw at Eltham Palace. After rushing from appointment to appointment all week, by Friday I was more than ready to spend the day outdoors in a beautiful location surrounded by beautiful things (because, The White Company)

There was a string quartet, purple bursts of wisteria, delicious food cooked by Tim Maddams (formerly of River Cottage) drinks provided by 31 Dover, and of course, all the poplin bunting I could ever wish for.

But first, I need to show off the wisteria. The head gardner of Eltham Palace took us on a little tour of the grounds and I couldn’t take enough photos of these purple blooms.

In between bowls of strawberries and rosé wine, English Heritage reps gave house tours inside Eltham Palace. I loved learning the story about the Courtaulds who used to live in the house (although, not really a house. Not even a mansion. It’s enormous!) Virginia Courtauld sounded like a renegade I wish to be friends with- she had a big snake tattoo on her ankle and kept a pet lemur called Mahjong. Not a big deal by today’s standard, but outrageous in the 1930’s!

You can check the English Heritage website here to plan your visit (which has to include a picnic!)

Speaking of picnics, The White Company laid out picnic blankets everywhere.

…and they felt better than my duvet at home to be honest.

All of The White Company touches around the garden made the afternoon feel special, and I got loads of ideas for our garden once building work finishes. If it ever finishes…

All I know is there will be plenty of Henley striped napkins, blankets and lanterns when it is though.

One of the last to leave (yes, I am that guest!) I woefully left Eltham Palace and all the elegance behind and made my way back towards Victoria station. It was a perfect tonic to end the week, seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. Definitely the best day out all year!

I am literally rubbing my hands together, itching to get my mitts on everything I saw on the day to furnish and decorate our new pad once the renovations are over. You’ll see what I mean here. Bunting is fine to hang all year round, right? Right?

A bomber jacket & a maxi dress

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]’ve always felt like there should be a day in between Sunday and Monday. Just when you finally feel relaxed, it’s time to hit another week! My Saturday was pretty low key BUT Sunday, well Sunday was fully booked up for a meal at Hawksmoor and a shop around town. I knew that since we were going to face some serious steak action, I needed to either rock up in stretchy pants, or a dress.

Spoiler alert- the dress won.

I threw on the two staples that I haven’t stopped wearing since I bought them- my Zara embroidered bomber jacket and my Adidas Superstars– and ran into town.

I’ve lived in this bomber jacket since I bought it last month from Zara- it’s reversible but I usually wear the black embroidered side- and it’s silky soft. Zara have WON the embroidered bomber jacket this season.

The dress is an oldie from a couple of summers ago, from an Australian online shop called Showpo. I’ve listed some similar ones below if you fancy it though.

I have to actually stop myself from wearing my Adidas trainers every morning too- they seem to go with everything. Clients coming in? Adidas! Dinner date after work? Adidas!

On this occasion, they were perfect for a stomp around Soho and the West End.

I obviously need to up my shopping cardio, because within a couple of hours I was done. DONE. (I also remembered why I prefer online shopping, because shopping rage is real)

At six o clock, we headed to our reservation at Hawksmoor for an early Sunday dinner- ever since his birthday last week, Robin had been nursing a mad craving for steak. I’ve yet to find anywhere in London that does steak as perfect as Hawksmoor, and it never disappoints! A ribeye with all the roast trimmings later, we strolled up Regent Street, towards the tube to take us home.

Sundays may be my new favourite day of the week.
