Life Lately | rain. Just rain.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he weekend, what a washout. On Saturday, Mother Nature absolutely drenched over our plans for a BBQ; but because this is Britain, we carried on regardless. The ice tea was ditched for hot tea, the wings and burgers went on the grill with the lid down and we made the best of the situation. Typical, eh! Weeks of hot, dry weather and the one time you do want to do something, it’s a soggy affair. On the upside, Sunday was about pyjama bottoms, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, mugs of Earl Grey and pretending it was Autumn.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”18092″ img_size=”1000×1500″ css=”.vc_custom_1516891404118{margin-top: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516891432997{padding-top: 120px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 140px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

Do you ever find yourself in one of those situations where you’re just like “how did I end up here?” That was me, on Friday. All week, there’s been a friendly stray in the park near my office. It’s a historical cemetery, the resting place of poets such as William Blake and not where you’d expect to find a cat which is why everyone flipped outWHEREDOYOULIVEPRETTYBABY? …wait, no, that was me.

Maybe it was the ex-Battersea in me, but I contacted every organisation and posted on FB lost cat pages. Which led me to spending Friday evening, in the park with a bunch of strangers, trying to scan this cat for a microchip only for a 6 YEAR OLD KID to nonchalantly declare “Oh, that’s Oreo, he lives over there” and points to the flats across the road. Dammit Oreo!

Last week, I had a Skype call with a nutritionist and it was a bit of an eye opener- in positive ways, not oh no I eat terribly kind of way. I have to incorporate more protein into my everyday diet, even if it’s just a handful of almonds. She also said some peanut butter is better than no peanut butter, so that’s a WIN for me (and for well, everybody no?)

Anyway, because I’m a terrible human, lo and behold, here is my breakfast situation. A Chelsea bun and coffee (with some nuts of the not so healthy kind) because it’s Monday and I went to bed last night watching the Bon Appetit youtube channel on how to bake breakfast buns and it’s all I could think about, all night.

In a moment of feeling super duper organised, I booked a reservation at Nobu Shoreditch next month. Annnnnd didn’t realise it was for the day after our wedding anniversary. But, ahem, I mean of course, totally intentional, second anniversary dinner and that’s the story I’m sticking to.

(watching Bon Appetit videos way past midnight as my poor husband tries to sleep also earns me extra Wife points, right?)

Hi.

I would like to take a moment to appreciate how adorable my father in law is with his cat face tote bag.

Thanks.

As you were!

Because of the whole ‘it’s raining, it’s pouring’ situation outside, the chillier temps and overcast days make me feel like we’ve skipped straight to October.

Browsing online, steaming mug of hot beverage next to me, my eyes skip over the sandals and mules and bright dresses (*sob*) and my Saved items are looking pretty Autumnal ready. There I said it. The eternal summer girl in me is preparing for Autumn. UGH.

But, with boots like this I think I’ll be fine (also available in Wide Fit, dontcha know)

Well, Monday! Here it is again. If Monday was a person, it’d be that person you were hoping to avoid.

This morning, I have had a man type the word semen onto his phone before legging it out of the building and I feel like this could possibly set the tone for the rest of the week.

Week 30 of 52, let’s go.

  1. oh man, that Oreo! Such a lot of drama over him! Happy endings though- his owners will get him microchipped and probably keep a closer eye on him! As it was unfolding around me, I was like “what is haaaaaappening!!!” And these boots! Going in my basket on Pay day!
