Life Lately | one word, rollercoaster

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][dropcap]W[/dropcap]ell last week was eventful, wasn’t it? I would very much like the next one to keep it’s head cool, maybe pop on a Bob Marley song, and take a long drive. It’s been all over the place; what I like to call interesting times (hands up if you read Terry Pratchett too) By Thursday, my BFF Ismay landed into London for a long weekend, and as we all know, some time with your nearest and dearest clears the head cobwebs away. The weekend felt long and pleasant, and I’ve just started a new book and things feel brighter. So let’s get to it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”18059″ img_size=”large” css=”.vc_custom_1516890926571{margin-top: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516890961794{padding-top: 100px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 130px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

On Saturday, my sister and I had planned to hit the Rockett St George sample sale in Hackney only by the time we got there, everything had been picked. There were only the dregs left and staff were starting to pack up 2 hours early as there was literally no more stock left. Lesson learnt! Next time, be early!

To avoid a wasted trip, I took us down to London Fields, via Hackney Town Hall, and took a quick walk up Broadway Market. The best thing about London Fields? All the dogs. So many dogs, ready to say hi.

We ended the weekend with the best thing you can do on a Sunday…a pub roast! Fluffy Yorkshire puds, with tender roast beef, carrots, red cabbage and roast potatoes. The Landseer Arms is a nice neighbourhood pub in Holloway- we sat outside and enjoyed the weather over good grub. Bosh. Sunday done right.

I think I might have come to terms with the fact that my style icon isn’t Jane Birkin or Alexa Chung, but Wayne and Garth from Wayne’s World. I’ve made my peace with it.

I bought this long blazer from Miss Selfridge recently (this exact one in fact) in order to smarten up every casual outfit ever. In this case, my baggy, ripped boyfriend jeans and a white tee (it didn’t stay white for very long, because, me)

Red tassel earrings are from H&M, which I really think they’ll restock again because they’re so popular. Literally every blogger on Planet Blog is wearing them. Word of warning, these bitches hurt by the end of the day! Party time, excellent!

I currently have the worst writer’s block. I’ve got a couple of Hong Kong posts to finish but when I sit down to type it out, I have no words. We did stuff here, then went here to do other stuff and then we had stuff to eat and yeah. That’s how it feels. I’m almost done on one post but I can’t get going for the last one! And it’s the best one about eating all the stuff!

Do you ever get that? How do you claw your way out of that hole?

Even though nothing particularly stressful has happened (well, apart from being burgled LOL) it just set the tone for the week and I felt pretty miserable. And then Amanda wrote the LOVELIEST post ever which I read whilst sat in the doctor’s waiting room and just like that, my crappy day/week was all the more brighter. It just goes to show that a little kindness and appreciation goes a long way- you just never what someone else is going through!

So, tell me- who or what has been your ray of sunshine recently?

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As long as I get my ish together, I should have a couple of posts to finish off my Hong Kong trip this week.

We’re meant to have a barbecue this weekend- which feels weird because we completely missed out on any Summer fun last year thanks to renovations taking over our lives (and sanity) It’s been a very long time coming! Here’s to hoping the rain clouds stay away.

  1. Hope you feel better soon! May I ask how you do the little titles at each bit of this? They look so good!
I know what you mean about bloggers block – it’s a right pain, and often when I’ve no longer got the glow of holiday I don’t want to revisit it! I’ve been challenging myself to try and make my travel posts about the 5 senses, it seems to help the words flow when I’m writing rather than a big long list of things which I have done! xx

  2. Oh no sorry to hear about your break in 😦 some days are just worse than others but like you said, there will always be a ray of sunshine somewhere! Just reading your blog post makes me happy, so visually pleasing and your writing always cheers me up!
I constantly have a block on the blog, I seriously don’t give it to much thought and write when I have something good to share!

  3. Oh no, awful news about the robbery! I’m so sorry to hear that. It sounds like you had some lovely experiences this week as well – London Fields is a great place for dog-spotting. I’m also tickled you went to the Landseer as that my local pub haha! I’m a bit fan of their sofas…! x

  4. Still got the block, haha! I think I’ve built it up too much, as soon as I sit down to finish it I just can’t string a coherent sentence together anymore! And thank you so much for the blog compliment- blogging can feel a bit like shouting into an abyss and not really knowing if anyone is into it! I’m so happy if cheers you up! x
