Life Lately | A New Look!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ow lush is it being at home, right now, with the sun out, ON A MONDAY? I love Bank Holidays, more please! So, as you can see, things have had more than a spring clean around here. It turns out that I like to live the complicated life, and instead of a little tidy up I ended up re-hauling the whole blog. Got rid of the things that didn’t work, and edited it down to something a little simpler and a little snappier. There might be a format bug or two, and I’m getting round to it slowly, but otherwise, enjoy!  And now, time for a quick Life Lately catch up before Robin comes home with some fish and chips.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”17557″ img_size=”large” css=”.vc_custom_1516893615471{margin-top: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516893652372{padding-top: 120px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 140px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

Saturday was spent at a friend’s, taking advantage of the weather with a barbecue. I took eleventy million (it felt like that anyway) painkillers for a migraine and ate grilled meats and all was well.

I found myself at Baker Street this week, a station that brings back far too many memories of student night outs, navigating our way around the Baker Street platforms, and that one time a friend slipped in vomit. Ah, Met Line, I really don’t miss you.

Sunday was uber productivity day. I tweeted my outrage earlier this week about my neighbour chopping down the hedge dividing our front gardens, so Sunday was spent at the garden centre buying lots of plants before planting them out at the front. We dug out old stumps. Raked stones. The new hedge trimmer exploded, which was kind of how my head was starting to feel. Our cats flirted with passerby’s. Strangers stopped to chat about my plants (big mistake, I know nothing except lavender)  This is perhaps the most middle aged thing I’ve ever blogged about. Sorry (but not really)

Last month, I insisted we drive out to the big Wing Yip supermarket to buy loads of yummy bits and pieces. I bought a packet of rice mix for chicken rice, which I loaded up into our rice cooker with some chicken breasts and 25 minutes later we had a delicious chicken rice meal! (add some lime juice to the dipping chilli sauce and it’s near enough to the real thing)

Other current food obsessions are apple slices with peanut butter (the Meridian brand one with less sugar) I’ve easily eaten a bag of apples this like some kind of horse this week. No regrets.

I’ve also discovered Drumstick Squashies (it’s always in the most random corner shops that you find such gems) and it’s bad news for my teeth. They are exactly my beloved childhood tuck shop treat- Drumstick lollies- but in gummy form. Mind blown.

The last time I was in Hong Kong was 2008, so I’m pretty excited that we’re flying out there next week to see my in-laws. I haven’t done any planning, apart from discovering that there is a Jolibee in Central (ahhhh!) We’re only out there for a week, so in between a wedding and a trip to Disneyland, I don’t have many must-do’s on my list. Although, I’m sure my itchy footed husband has a place or two he wants to go, starting at the crack of dawn. Send help.

With me on the hunt for an occasion dress, the bank holiday sales couldn’t have been better timed. I spied this dress (to the left, to the left) from Phase Eight of all places! Phase Eight are another brand that have stepped up their game recently now reduced from £199 to £139.

And there is of course, the one day 20% off everything at Asos sale with code SWEET…that I might have used to purchase a pair of dungarees because let’s be honest, those will get a lot more wear than an occasion dress 😉

My fish and chips are now here- is there anything nicer than a bag of chip shop chips?

I hope you all have an excellent (4 DAY) week!

  1. We’re all out of “bank holidays” until October now… we have several in the first half of the year then nada. Nothing is better than a long weekend followed by the shorter work week! P.s. love the look chic x
