Life Lately | Separation Anxiety from my Dungarees

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ince buying myself a pair of dungarees, I am rarely not in my dungarees. They are a pain in the arse when it comes to the loo, but otherwise I am perfectly happy in my black denim burrito. And let’s not dwell too long on how everything should have a front pocket now, because my phone, last remaining spare hair tie, keys, and debit card no longer require a bag. Nestled like a baby joey against my chest is the way forward. What is even wearing something around your waist anymore? If there’s no over-the-shoulder-buckle action, I don’t want to know. Is now also an appropriate time to confess that I keep a jar of Nutella on my desk because I don’t want to share it?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”16673″ img_size=”large” css=”.vc_custom_1516896300313{margin-top: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516896330458{padding-top: 120px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 140px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

Part of me wants to keep this place a secret, part of me needs to shout from the rooftops about it, but a new pizza place opened next door to us and I have to rave about it.

My neighbourhood is well known for it’s warehouses and creative community, and more recently, cool new eateries. Loven Presents is such a place. Randomly situated in a warehouse, you buzz the door, walk up a sterile staircase, and suddenly you’re walking into a beautiful white space with an enormous wood fire oven in the corner. My favourite is the Marinara- simple tomato base, fresh oregano and basil and a drizzle of garlic oil (and it’s only £5)

I went weeks without paying much attention to it, but then suddenly all of the Netflix series came along with 13 Reasons Why, and then Love, and then the finale of Girls, and then Big Little Lies and phew (But Big Little Lies, honestly, so good. I am now scared of Alex Skarsgaard and Reese Witherspoon is a queen)

Errr, so of course the only tweet of mine to gather any attention is over this bizarre get up from Topshop. CLEAR PLASTIC JEANS. I laughed, I tweeted, I forgot all about it. A few hundred notifications later, I realised ‘whoops’. The plastic jeans had been discovered and ridiculed all over social media-many featuring my silly little tweet. I mean, fine, I get they could be for fun festival times but 1) SWEAT and 2) £55 is frivolous for a bit of fun.

And hello, where can I collect my pension, for I am now an old lady.

I’m so glad I work in a dog friendly space. Every place should be dog friendly! (saying that, there have been moments when someone has brought their cats in too)

Last week, I ‘babysat’ (or kidnapped but potato-potahto) Vash here.

He’s a Russian Toy terrier- he’s 3 years old and even my little Louie at home would tower over him. I put his teeny dog bed on my desk and wrapped him up like a burrito. Everyone should have a desk sized pupper at work!

Okay, hive mind needed! Fancy soap. Specifically, Aesop fancy soap, that I’ve been coveting since this Bali bathroom shot.

I’ve been toying back and forth with investing in a couple of bottles at home, but each time I go to the checkout cart I just can’t go through with spending £27 on something that washes my hands. Those deep brown bottles though, they fulfil my clean, tidy, Pinteresty dreams. It smells great, but you know. Most soaps do.

Anyone have any similar brand recommendations at a nicer price?

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]So, I’ve been promising another Bali post for ages, but you know when you sit down to write something and it just doesn’t flow? My words sound clunky and everything I’m trying to describe just doesn’t feel like it’s doing the photos any justice. But it’s coming along, slowly but surely.

I’m so excited for the Bank Holiday break AND shock horror, because I’ve actually remembered, but it’ll be mine and Robin’s 14 year anniversary on Monday. This makes me feel very old. I’ll probably forget again on the day though, as is tradition.

What plans have you guys got? I have a sinking feeling that I might find myself at the skip (eye roll) but you know, I’ll take that over an alarm clock on an early Monday morning!

  1. Haha your writing makes me giggle! I’d also like to say that it’s TOTALLY appropriate to not share your Nutella. It’s just too good to give away.

That pizza place sounds amazing – my favourite pizza is the Marinara and I’m craving it so much right now!

  2. GIRLS ending….. oh. my. I don’t want it to end, ever. Makes me so sad (did you see the special as well after the series finished? So great listening to Lena talk about how she produced it x)

  3. The ones where she chats with Judd Apatow with a fierce little head bun? YES! I liked those. I loved the penultimate episode, that was the one that made me feel like it was properly goodbye to all of them and to Brooklyn/NY, and that the final episode was an epilogue to check in on Hannah. Ugh, I’m going to miss the show so much!
