Life Lately | Green Thumbs

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][dropcap]A[/dropcap]s I sit here typing in the glorious Spring sunshine, new rolls of green, green grass are being laid down in the back garden. The buds on our popcorn tree are starting to sprout, so with any luck, the garden will actually look like…well, a garden soon and not the mud pit that it has been for nearly a year. I tackled the front garden with a hedge trimmer so I feel pretty strong, like Mr T, right now. Isn’t it mad how just a little more sunshine makes the world feel like a better place? More optimistic? With the clock change and a green thumbed spring clean, I feel like this is actually a New Year- more so than January. So, what’s been going down life lately…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516898251806{padding-top: 180px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 200px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

I picked up these new plant babies just off Brick Lane a short while ago. The shop was pumping out old Jay Z songs and was over flowing with succulents, hanging plants and candles. A dream shop!

This pot plant was only £6. It looks tiny in this picture for some reason, but in real life it’s a chunky chunky fat chunkerson of a pot. Note to self, more pots (actually, not a joke. Robin is on the search for garden planters)

Saturday was cinema night and guess who won the Beauty and the Beast vs Get Out toss up? The tale as old as time! And you know, it was just the sweetest, loveliest film and the fact that Robin didn’t fall asleep once means he most probably liked it too (THE MAN CANNOT STAY AWAKE IN THE CINEMA)

I went to bed (and woke up) humming ‘there must be more than this provincial liiiife’  It was the feel good movie that I needed to see and I’ve already followed the soundtrack on Spotify. Oh fellow commuters on the 8:33 at Highbury & Islington you are going to love what’s pumping out of my headphones!

You might have seen Emma Watson hiding books up and down the tube network recently and whilst the book I found wasn’t one she had hidden herself, another book fairy had left this for me to find.

There I was, on my morning commute, when I stepped off the Victoria line tube, about to switch across to the train platform. I spotted a lonely book on a bench and I just knew it was from the Books on the Underground initiative. I can’t wait to finish it and pass it on along somewhere on the tube myself.

When I was a teenager, dungarees were the epitome of cool thanks to TLC. I had a blue pair and a black pair, and if I was feeling extra sassy, I’d wear one strap dangling down because it was omgCrazySexyCool (but also the 90’s, sooo….)

Anyway, it took me a little while to jump on the dungaree train again because of this and also I just couldn’t find ones with a flattering silhouette. Matalan, that little treasure trove of treasures, had a pair for £20 and I wore them over the weekend with rolled up ankles and red ballet pumps. And like my teenage self did, I felt pretty sassy in them!

As I sift through hundreds of photos from Bali, I start to get the itch to wander off again (says the girl with massive travel anxiety)

I’d love to return to Morocco, but I also wouldn’t say no to another spa break either.

With any luck, we’ll be visiting Hong Kong this year! (and I’m seriously considering squeezing in a couple of days to visit Brunei if that’s the case because the homesick never dies!)

Or several more things actually

– Say hello to Michelle over here (it’s a beautiful blog btw)

– Did you catch the Red Nose Day Actually short? Loved seeing Hugh Grant as the dancing PM again! And whilst we’re on the subject of Red Nose Day, James Corden with Take That is the sole reason why I was pumping Never Forget on the way to work. Tears. Down. My. Face.

-I have an eye infection developing…that or a third eyeball…but remedies anyone? It’s starting to drive me up the wall.

-It’s meant to be 17C today. Toes at the ready to bask in the sunshine!

  1. This layout is so nice. Love love love.
Also, extra points for the dungarees. I haven’t cranked a pair out yet because I live in actual Devon and may get roped into some kind of mucking out situation if I get that styling wrong (highly likely!) Yours look fab though, especially with the red shoes.

And can you not with the Take That thing? I was shocked at how nostalgic I got at that. And how loud I shrieked along with them. And how many words to Take That songs I still know.
    Have a great week.

  2. I was going to buy those dungarees in Matalan but settled for the pinafore dress version. Butttttttttt I think I’m going to go back and buy them anyway! I’m off to Hong Kong for the third time in October, I bloody love that place!

  3. Ooh thanks for the tip on the Brick Lane succulent shop! All the other ones I’ve found so far have been so expensive so I will definitely need to check this place out! x

  4. Kudos to getting your other half to see Beauty & The Beast, I loved it too! You just reminded me to get onto Spotify now and gave a listen…

I want to go back to HK, it’s been to long but I want to tag on somewhere else as well. Taiwan or Philippines maybe?!
