Life Lately | Close to Home

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][dropcap]W[/dropcap]hen I’ve had a nice weekend, I feel so much more productive come Monday morning. I feel like I slept all the good sleeps, ate all the good eats, read my book, ran a bath, saw my family, and even rifled through my old summer clothes to plan what to pack for our holiday. Finding forgotten favourites in storage is almost like shopping for new clothes. I also realised I own a lot of yellow. I stayed close to home this weekend and I realised, that actually… I quite like my neighbourhood. I feel like out of nowhere, the creative community has swept in and injected some colour and life into it. I love the weekly foodie/farmer market and the new cafes with creative workspaces- I even signed up to our local leisure centre as it’s been hiding a really nice swimming pool all this time! More time closer to home please.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=”custom” border_width=”2″ accent_color=”#ff8d6b”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516899596030{padding-top: 100px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 130px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

Back in September, Blighty opened a new cafe in our area. It has a sister cafe in Finsbury Park which gets a lot of love, so I was happy to stop by for a coffee. It’s overall look is vintage 1950’s India complete with a neon Ghandi illuminating the hip young things buried in their laptops.

I have a lot of sisters, which is great because we like to ‘borrow’ things from one another. That’s how I ‘found’ this Bare Minerals lipstick in the shade Juju. It’s a matte pinky nude and is the best matte formula I’ve tried. It’s not drying and the pinky shade adds a little something something (also, I once had a cat called Juju so I was always going to love this)

If this week had a theme it would be MICE. My mousers have bought home three mice and a rat- thankfully the rat stayed outside but the mice. Oh, they brought those home. At 3am. For three days straight. I was tired and grumpy and fed up of having to rescue terrified mouseys in the middle of the night. I guess I should be grateful they were just slimed with cat spit and not chomped in two.

I wish I found this awesome t shirt before the Women’s March. You can find your Nasty Woman tee HERE. I feel like I need to host a regular night at my house, book club style, to discuss it all because I found myself talking AT my husband’s tennis partner the other day and the poor guy was just trying to leave the house.

My soundtrack of the weekend was anything and everything French from the 60’s. Think Brigitte Bardot and Gillian Hill. My friends used to tease me at uni about my ‘awesome’ mixtape compilations, but this one is perfect for pottering about your room, sorting through clothes and makeup and confusing your cat. Trust me on that one.

  1. Juju suits you! I know what you mean about having lots of sisters, you’re bound to find some goodies amongst them 😉 You’ve inspired me to explore my local neighbour more, there’s a few independent shops down the road I should check out. x
