Life Lately | Chinese New Year

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s Chinese New Year this weekend- the Year of the Monkey checks out and the Year of the Rooster kicks in. It kind of sprung on us this year- past Chinese New Year’s have been spent walking up and down China Town as my father in law peers through restaurant windows trying to pick the best one (we always end up in Golden Dragon) Aside from a trip to the cinema, this weekend I have been snuggled inside an old giant hoodie listening to the rain thump on the windows- possibly the nicest, cosiest feeling in the world! A few Life Lately highlights this week include…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”2″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”15387″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516900191367{padding-top: 120px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 120px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

We go on holiday at the end of the month and I’ve been on the lookout for nice swimwear…so of course what do I find? The best jumper this season. And it’s from Matalan! (who also do nice swimwear fyi!) It’s super soft, really warm and the embroidered polka dots are silly perfection. And it was only £14. You can find it here.

My sister sent me this book (isn’t getting actual post the best?) and it’s the prettiest thing on my book shelf. It’s not just a pretty cover as the book’s chapters are divided into themes about where and how to practice mindfullness in this barmy city. It’s by Tessa Watt and it’s called Mindful London. It’s lovely. Check it out on Amazon here.

SO, what did we do for Chinese New Year? We grabbed some sushi in Itsu, watched T2 Trainspotting set in Edinburgh, then went to get Vietnamese for dinner. Because London. It was a good, frosty night for a steaming hot bowl of pho- I like mine nice and herby (but hold the beansprouts, because bleurgh)

Camden Passage is easily one of the cutest streets in London. It’s cobbled and lined with shops and cafes and even in the dim glow of the streetlight, I still couldn’t resist a few snaps. It’s a good spot for brunch too- skip the queue at The Breakfast Club and head to Kipferl or The Elk In The Woods instead.

I found my Holy Grail of bags on eBay this month. My jaw dropped when I came across a seller in Sydney, Australia- selling her Alexander Wang Rockie bag in Mustard leather and black hardware. The Buy It Now price was too good not to take advantage of and 2 weeks later, I was unboxing it with glee. THIS is my precioussss.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1485770262495{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-image: url( !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}”]As I was drafting this post together- although I like my Life Lately snippets– I couldn’t help but worry how frivolous it seemed in today’s current news climate. A new bag, a new jumper, a nice weekend date with my husband. There’s so much outrage all over the world and I don’t want anyone to think that doesn’t matter to me. I have so much to say right now, but struggle to put my words together, and on the right platform. As any blogger will know, a blog only shows a small percentage of a person’s life- there is so much more happening below the surface. Until I can put my thoughts together in a coherent way, these little snippets are what I’ve got. x[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

  1. I think it’s nice reading about the little pleasures in life – you can be outraged and despairing but still take joy in small things! And getting your dream bag on eBay is brilliant, I wish I could stumble across a Mulberry for a bargain price! 😉 xx

  2. To be honest I love taking the time to appreciate these small treasures and simple pleasures. Don’t feel bad for learning to love what you have!!!

    P.s. great bag find…. !!!
