[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his photo above got some crazy likes on my Instagram on Saturday night. As the numbers racked up, I thought to myself what is going on?! There really is no magic formula for Instagram. That aside, I had a really nice weekend- did you? It was the kind where you wake up without an alarm clock, amble to the pub to see friends, snuggle into oversized hoodies and sip tea from your favourite mug- that sort of weekend.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator border_width=”2″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516900820955{padding-top: 140px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 160px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

I’ve just bought a tripod from Amazon, so I can start taking photos with me actually in them! How’s this for an OOTD? This outfit might have been unconsciously inspired by watching the Breakfast Club for the 40 millionth time recently- John Bender was always my favourite character :/ Next time, I might even try and take a photo without a building site in the background 😉

I found the denim jacket in New Look- it was the right length, the right wash and had just the right amount of distressing to it (I sized up to get the kind of oversized and baggy relaxed fit I was after) My timberlands are an eBay score (the best kind!)

I had been home alone all week as Robin was away on a shoot in Portugal. By the time he got back, I was all HELLOFELLOWHUMAN. I like the me-time I get when he has to go away but I do go stir crazy eventually. There’s only so much chat you can have with two cats who look at you with disappointment in their eyes.

Saturday was spent cosying in a pub in Clerkenwell for a friend’s birthday. There were sweet potato fries and carrot cake- what more can you want from a cold January day?

On the way home, as I munched on a Polish bread roll,  I watched that weird husband of mine herd a group of lost tourists outside the station to their destination and I was like, yep. He’s a good egg that one. I’ll keep him.

You know what else was nice about the weekend? cat napping. Napping with my pal Peppy here. Now that the house is free of builders, my furry boys are becoming their eccentric old selves again. Which means this one follows me around like a shadow, sleeps next to me, sits next to me, and basically thinks I am the cat’s pyjamas. Snuggling his fat belly as I watch TV is my favourite.

eBay has been a treasure trove recently. I’ve found some AMAZING bargains on there, as well as stocking up on Bath and Body Works favourites like this Sugar Plum Swirl cream. It smells delicious and I slather it all over my hands and legs. I smell like a Sugar Plum fairy full time now!

These Timberland boots were £30 and had never been worn. I’ve scored a couple of Alexander Wang bargains recently too-  I might have to dedicate a post on my love for eBay!

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”15070″ img_size=”1000×2080″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516900925029{padding-top: 40px !important;padding-right: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 60px !important;padding-left: 30px !important;}”]I know I keep banging on about January and firsts, but this really was the first weekend- not just for January, but for many months beforehand- that was just lovely and nice and normal. Coming home to a normal house again, doing normal things like having the time to see friends, and potter about, and snooze on the sofa, and cook leisurely meals. All of those little things, taken for granted, that I had missed out on for so long.

Waking up and walking on fluffy carpet instead of grit and dirty floorboards.

A nice wardrobe to hang my clothes instead of crumpled in a bag on the floor.

Organised drawers and a shiny, clean hob to cook from instead of a microwave balanced on a tool box.

White walls instead of dingy magnolia.

All of these seemingly stupid little things that actually make me appreciate home.

January might be cold and grey and wet, but for me, I’m loving getting the chance to hunker down, get cosy with a book and to drink my weight in tea.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

  1. THANK YOU Alice! This made my day 🙂 I’ve been adding bits here and there as I go along, kind of trying to make it reflect the scrapbooks and notebooks I used to doodle in. I’m really enjoying it and I’m so relieved someone else likes it too!
