Christmas 2.0

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][dropcap]A[/dropcap]nother year, another Christmas 2.0 with my family! I’ve written before about my family’s Post-Christmas-Christmas-Day that we have every year and I look forward to it just as much as the ‘real’ deal. There’s a big dinner, presents, mince pies- the works. Plus, dad dancing! As dinner was cooking in the oven, my sister, dad and littlest niece went out for a winter walk…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14830″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”14791″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516901554736{padding-top: 120px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 140px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

It’s been a mild winter so far, but on this particular day, the temperature dropped and it was frosty outside. There was mist lying low on the ground, fog on the horizon and it felt good to be bundled up against the cold. There are usually cows in the field we walk across, but during the cold winter months, they’re back on the farm. From the field, it was down by the river and home again, just as the sun was settling down, setting the sky alight with pink and red hues.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14838″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14835″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14829″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14832″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14822″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14824″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14821″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516901597575{padding-top: 160px !important;padding-right: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 180px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f3f0 !important;}”]

I’m going to miss all the beautiful door decorations that are slowly going to disappear this week! Robin caught someone at our front door the other day taking an Instagram shot of ours- but I get it. I have so many saved in my own Photo Roll. Can I just hang a wreath of plants for the rest of the year? *stalks Etsy*

There’s this cottage that we pass everytime I’m at my sister’s house and I love it. It’s so cute and sits on a quiet corner and of course they just had to have the cutest front door too. It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine. (brownie points if you name that film)

We got back just in time- enough to catch the fiery sky before it went completely dark. I used to think the sunsets in Asia were the best in the world, but after seeing this, I think I might have to have a rethink! Coupled with the mist, I don’t think I’ve ever come across such a dramatic wintery scene.

The brisk walk did some good, as by the time we got home and had the warmth return to our face and toes, the food was ready to serve up. My mum made her famous roast potatoes and a shoulder of lamb, there were mashed potatoes, cheesy leeks, and jugs of gravy.

After dinner, presents are opened, bellies are full, and it’s an all round nice, chilled time when I feel happy and grateful to be with my family- which beats any gift. The house is filled with the sounds of the kids playing, a dozen different conversations happening at once. It’s the kind of nutty buzz that only comes from family.

Later that evening (spritzed with Hello Kitty perfume thanks to my niece) when I hug everyone goodbye and start the drive home, I feel ready to say farewell to Christmas and ready for the new year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
