Our Flat Renovation | Part Two

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ELLO from the sandpit I now call home! Ok, so not an actual sandpit, but it feels that way sometimes. The flat renovation is progressing along, so I thought it was time for a new update. The protective sheeting was replaced in the kitchen last week and it was super weird seeing the floor again. I’ve lost count what number week we’re in…6? 12? 18? Does it matter anymore?!

So here’s where we’re at, right now.

The walls of the extension have been built up to the roof height.

The floor has been been dug and concrete has been poured all over.

The garden has been completely levelled, and only two trees in the left and right corners remain- when I came home, I may have audibly gasped, like a Disney Princess, because neat’ and ‘tidy’ are two words life lacks right now.

My poor old bedroom has been completely gutted (although LOL at the mini chandelier still hanging in there) The carpet was ripped out and the built in wardrobes Hulk Smashed into pieces. It’s hard to envision this space as our new kitchen- partly because of all the mess and partly because, this is where I slept and snored away every night!

We’ve now fully moved into the living room for the next few weeks. It’s as fun as it sounds. We’re surrounded by mountains of stuff. And by stuff, I mean our clothes.

You know what else is exciting?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13024″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

This is exciting. Some signs of life in the garden! It’s only one panel, but I’ll take it. It’s made from red cedar, smells like the woods and nature and Christmas combined int0 one. Robin sourced them from Manchester and they were delivered last week, in bundles of 40 that we shuffled into the back garden at 11 o clock at night because why not!

Pinterest, ever the inspiration hotspot, helps to visualise the end result (Also, I would like all of the olive trees too)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13049″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]And that concludes the little sandpit tour of the flat.

We’re at the getting-uncomfortable stage now, in that everything and everyone has the one room to eat, sleep and hang out in…rather like a studio flat in a desert (Dust. So much Dust)

So, there we go! Officially at the halfway point. I’m already excited to write Part 3 of this series, because Part 3 will mean more progress and I don’t know, an end to the dust and sand?

  1. I love the cedar fencing! We are redoing our garden soon and Pinterest is just such an inspiration, what a shame that our budget doesn’t stretch as far…but one can only dream! Hang in there, you’re nearly there and then just think of how amazing it will be! 🙂
