The Powerscourt Hotel & Resort Spa | Ireland

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] spent all of last week in Dublin, celebrating a friend’s wedding on the Emerald Isle. There had been many late nights decorating, dining and celebrating so checking ourselves into the day spa at the 5 star Powerscourt Hotel & Resort Spa to recover and relax, was possibly one of the best decisions ever! After a drive through winding country lanes, we pulled up to the Powerscourt Estate and towards the hotel grounds. Surrounded by a tall pine forest and a dramatic view towards the Great Sugar Loaf Mountain, the hotel (and spa) are breathtaking.

LOOK at that view. It was insanely beautiful!

I booked the Escape package which included a Back, Neck and Shoulder massage, a Mini Facial and a delicious lunch in the Spa’s cafe- with full use of the Spa’s facilities for the rest of the day- which meant our pick of the Hammam suite, hot tub, sauna, steam room, swimming pool, and possibly the best bit- the Serenity room. All for 99 Euro! (that’s £75)

Basically, the Serenity room is a space where you have to be silent and serene, where you can tuck yourself into a reclining bed and a soft blanket, and stare at the pretty view of the forest and valley, whilst helping yourself to the counter stocked with teas, cucumber water, dried fruit and nibbles.

Naps and food. It’s what I thrive on.

Also, after my treatment, my masseuse gave me a scoop of lime sorbet and I felt like I was winning at life.

Next door to the Serenity room was the hot tub, sauna and steam room. I was pretty happy to stew away in the bubbles here though, and continue my staring out of the windows. My hardened London eyes are not used to all this greenery and beauty.

Speaking of beauty, we took a walk around the grounds afterwards. That alone is worth the drive up here!

As I saw this, I started singing *at Kellerman’s the friendships last long, as the mountains staaaand*

Dirty Dancing vibes, no?

With the knots in my back massaged away, the fresh air filling my lungs as we roamed, I was feeling very calm and floaty which is exactly what you want from a day at the spa. Although with grounds and views this beautiful, that helped too of course.

A cabin in the woods, of course. This place has everything woodsy and pretty tugging at your heart strings.

Sandwiched between two leaning trees, from afar it looked like a teapot shaped cabin.

The sun began setting and it was time to head back inside…

In fact, the moon was already out high above the tree tops. All I needed was a wolf to howl and it would have been a perfect vintage t-shirt motif moment.

Inside the main lobby, it couldn’t have been more Autumnal. Plush sofas and cushions, dark wood panels and a table centerpiece of pumpkins and flowers- straight out of Stars Hollow I tell you.

This was hands down the best spa I’ve ever been to and wouldn’t hesitate to return to. I loved it- the setting was beautiful, the hotel was gorgeous, and the spa treatments just so reasonably priced.

If staying at the hotel, they can arrange a meet and greet at the airport. If you’re just visiting for the day like we did, it’s a 30 minute drive from Dublin city centre which I guess wouldn’t be more than a 50 Euro cab ride.

It’s the perfect setting for anything from a short, relaxing break to a romantic getaway; loved it, loved it, loved it!

  1. What beautiful gardens. We visited here about 8 years ago on our first trip to Ireland. What a great introduction to Ireland.
