[dropcap]O[/dropcap]ver the summer, I was nominated for the Best Longstanding Lifestyle Blog award for the very first Blogger’s Blog Awards. To say I was over the moon is an understatement, with the thought of the odds of being shortlisted making me squeak. And wanting to hide under my desk. But, I booked those train tickets to Leeds and as time is wont to do, it sped through September and suddenly it was October 3rd *ahem* and awards day.
As I wasn’t staying overnight, I decided to treat myself and bought a return First Class ticket to Leeds and spent the 2 hour and half hour journey nibbling on food and the first of many many coffees of the day (not including the enormous one I had waiting for my train at Kings Cross, watching the queue at Platform 9 and 3/4 )
My twitter feed was exploding with similar journeys and excitement, as #BloggersBlogAwards trended twice in the UK that day. I discovered Hannah and Laura were on the same train as me, and as luck would have it, I literally ran straight into them as soon as I stepped off the train.
Adopting me like I was orphan Annie, I hitched a lift to their hotel where most of the other blog nominees were staying. The taxi driver was like “You guys are from down South right?” – was it our accents that gave it away? or probably it was our shivering as my god, the temperature dips up North.
A whirlwind of hellos and outfit spruce ups later, like little ducks, we followed Katy and Google Maps and walked to Lambert’s Yard for the party. I mean ceremony. And prosecco.
It was a big gathering of bloggers. There were alot of camera lenses. There were alot of props. Despite lugging my camera all the way over, I didn’t use it and only got a handful of iPhone pictures. In fact, it was Big Thanks to Katy and her awesome selfie screen thingamajig, this lovely picture was taken!
Obligatory feet selfie. And because, that parquet floor.

I knew in the run up to the awards that I wouldn’t stand a chance of winning, but then on the day, there was such a good sense of spirit and community, that it didn’t really feel like a ‘competition’ I had lost out on at all. It was a very supportive atmosphere and everyone appeared to be most excited about meeting other bloggers in real life.
I did however, win a raffle prize! The Eat, Blog, Sleep, Repeat marbled sign that was just made for a pretty flat lay photo.
Doesn’t Lambert’s Yard have some serious LA industrial loft vibes? I was very envious.
Outfit details! My tuxedo jumpsuit is from Asos- a nicely priced £35 treat- and red heels are oldies from Office.
I couldn’t stay on for drinks and dinner afterwards and had to head straight back to the station to catch my train home to London. What a packed Saturday though- Leeds and back in a day, meeting new faces and bloggers, exploring a new city a tiny bit- PHEW.
Big, MASSIVE thank you to Hayley for creating and starting what I hope will be an ongoing tradition of Blogger’s Blog Awards. All her hard work and effort was well and truly appreciated! Roll on 2016!
