[dropcap]A[/dropcap]hh life lately…what have I been up to recently? Well with the count down to our wedding ON (4 weeks! eep!) it’s been a mad rush to make sure that everything is in order and ready for the day. Hotels have been booked, cakes ordered, florists finalised, and the table plans submitted. Table plans are traumatising, I don’t think I can talk about it. I had to send off a form finalising our wedding DJ in the evening, and my hand shook over that submit button for a few seconds. Relinquishing control to a stranger when you’re a total music nerd is no easy feat!
So, wedding wise, everything is on track.
This morning I woke up to grey skies and an *almost* chill in the air and it actually made me consider pumpkin spice lattes and holiday seasons- and we’re not even into August! It makes me want to hunker down with a pile of books amongst the mountain of cushions on my bed (it’s actually embarrassing how many ended up there)
I had a crazy craving for fried plantain too, the kind that you just can’t ignore, so I took a walk in our neighbourhood, bought some plantain at the Asian grocery store, stopped in the West Indian deli and bought some Jamaican pasties and dumplings, and then bought a box of mini tarte de natas from the Portuguese cafe before browsing through the Columbian market on the corner. And that right there is why I like our pocket of London.
Every summer, the Columbian cafe gets the band out and the music drifts all the way down to my street and it makes it feel like Summer x 1000. This is an oldie Instagram, pre blog days, but the music and vibe returns every year.
Other perks of having gloomy days like today- playing Amy Winehouse songs on repeat, cups of hot tea, and a hot bath to wallow in- and skies like this.
I’ve been feeling a little bit adrift on the blogging front lately. I think I have too many brain tabs open and they all scream WEDDING at the moment. I love that we’re getting married, but the planning part? Meh, not so much! After Friday, I’m sure it’ll feel better. In the meantime- let’s get this week started!
