& the aftermath

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ow, so I didn’t mean to drop off entirely off the face of the Earth these past few days. I am truly blown away by how much my last post resonated with people- thank you all for the comments and feedback. I’m ill with the kind of bug that only copious amounts of cold and flu medicine to knock me into a Sleeping Beauty sleep will do. When I started blogging, I envisioned this blog more as a place where I wrote personal things and over time I realised that it was no longer the kind of space that I felt proud of. There’s an awful lot of peacocking on the internet and that’s the reason I probably don’t promote my posts as much as I should- which is ridiculous really, since this space helps me make a living. Saying that, I was going to name this post Pancakes, Peacocking and Phlegm so how’s that for appealing to brands and potential sponsors?

The Awkward Blog

Over the weekend I was at a friend’s wedding, at the Asylum, a disused chapel in South London. It was a stunning location- all bare concrete, stained glass windows and lots of candles. It felt like a scene from Romeo + Juliet and I couldn’t think of any place more romantic than that!

Strolling through Mayfair last week; they say you should look up when you’re exploring a city and you know what, they’re right. Who are the people living in these bouji little flats, with these lovely balconies?

The Awkward Blog

I bought Rachel Khoo’s new cookbook and it’s the prettiest recipe book I’ve ever laid my hands on. The rounded corners and illustrations speak to me! Also there was this…

…hooray for the Victoria line, and a teeny touch of pride for my side of North London!

Today the sun is out and I have thrown the window open to get some fresh air into the house (although maybe that’s not such a good idea with this cold I’m trying to get rid of!) It felt good to sit in the sunshine and feel the anticipation of Spring just around the corner. Cue- snowfall. Honestly, I remember when it snowed in April and every time I say this everyone thinks I’m making it up.

The Awkward Blog

Its weird to think that our furry dudes have never experienced warm weather. How is this kitten nearly 9 months old and built like a brickhouse?

I have a few more sponsored posts that are scheduled this week, but after that, I’m going to make a real effort to get back to the kind of blogging that I loved, and to strike a balance somewhere. Again, thank you all for your kind words, for sharing your thoughts, and for making this muddlesome person feel alot better!

  2. I actually missed your last post until just now when I read this one. And it was gorgeous. I’m sure you didn’t mean it to be so blatantly perfect, but it was, and good writing! 🙂 I know how you feel with the blogging thing, though I can’t say my blog is doing as well and therefore not eating my life. But I loved your honesty and bravery in sharing. 🙂 Can’t wait to read more of your writing, whether peacocky or not xx
