wedding planning

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ince getting engaged, I’ve had great fun pinning everything for real on my Pinterest boards. Apparently, most girls grow up dreaming of their wedding, throwing pillow cases over their heads like a wedding veil. I, on the other hand, had a great time whizzing around with a red towel draped around my shoulders pretending to be Superman-so I was never going to be a Princess kind of bride. In fact…I’ve already bought my wedding dress!  I guess I’ve approached this whole wedding planning thing as a great big party to hold and I think that’s the part I’m most excited about- having  all of our friends and family gathered for a boogie and good food. I can’t wait to get stuck into decorating our to-be-confirmed wedding venue and choosing our food and music! Here are a few of my wedding inspirations…

I want lots of colour, quirk and sparkle, giant paper flowers, and red lipstick. That much I know! I’m choosing not to have a bridal party but just a Maid of Honour and a ‘Wingman’ who I have been thick as thieves with since childhood. My nieces and nephews would be involved as they are little rays of sunshine in my life and I would love a photo booth and a sweetie table (that’s always my favourite part at a wedding!) but I’m not going to worry about the details too much until we get the venue booked. In fact- until we get the wedding booked, nothing really feels real! Is that weird?

Wedding websites like Rock My Wedding and Rock N Roll Bride have been a great source of inspiration as well as helpful in that elusive search for a London venue that has a late licence, isn’t extortionate and doesn’t have a several years long waiting list! We found a fab venue in the City that ticked all the boxes but the only down side was that it wasn’t guaranteed to be private at the weekend…I still think of it wistfully…

Venue hassle aside, I’m having fun envisioning all the details! I’ll let you know how my giant paper flower project gets on…
