Saturday marked Nuffnang UK’s 1st birthday! I couldn’t think of a cooler place to hold a party than on a rooftop overlooking the London skyline- especially on a lovely Spring day, with delicious tacos, Pimms, and fellow Nuffies.
I had taken an allergy tablet that morning, so a few Pimms later I’m amazed I was still able to stand up. The airplane scene in Bridesmaids? Could have been me. I wasn’t ready to ‘paaaaaaarrrty‘, but I was really looking forward to catching up with a few familiar faces and meet new bloggers. It was so good to catch up with my ASEAN sistahs, Jasiminne and Honey and to finally meet Marlene, whose blog I’ve read for a long time. I hadn’t seen Emma and Alex since our lovely Sunday Brunch at Fika- it was great to see their cheery faces again! I also met Steph (whose dark wardrobe I covet) for the first time and the amazing Sarah from The Prosecco Diaries
The overcast day didn’t deter the queue for burgers and tacos- how much of a rockstar does Tom look? I haven’t had a good taco since Hawker House so I went straight into the queue for these vegan friendly ones from Club Mexicana. The bit that piqued my interest the most was the pulled jackfruit filling…growing up in the Far East, jack fruit was a sweet weird looking fruit with such a distinct flavour I couldn’t picture it as a taco filling. So the only option was to try it! I’m glad I did, it was delicious…
I watched as they started building my tacos together- fluffy taco wraps, good chunks of avocado, pickled onions and sweetcorn relish, with a generous squeeze of hot sauce. Boom.
They were all lined up nicely on a tray- one black bean, one pulled jackfruit and one (I think) wheat or soya? The hot sauce gave it just the right kick-so good, I went back for second helpings. Yep. On top of the salted caramel brownies I bought from Netil Market next door. So, my belly was in a truffle shuffle delight that day! I later had a wander around Netil 360– taking in all the quirky art work on the stairwell, admiring the city views, and stumbling across a hot tub of wet, hairy men. As you do.
I’ve been to a few blogger events and Nuffnang (and Nuffnangers!) are by far the nicest, friendliest bunch. Joining them last year was the best thing I could have done for my blog- thanks guys! The afternoon went far too quickly- here’s to future blogger gatherings!
Happy Birthday Nuffnang! Thanks for a lovely afternoon!
